Try This Out!
Mrs. Russo shared with me some exercises that can be done at a desk or from a seated position. Try these out while doing homework if you and your child need a little break:
Chair/Wall Push Ups- Push chair down while lifting body off of chair/Push ups against a wall
Cat-Stretch- Seated in chair, stretch arms out over front of desk and stretch feet out under desk and round back like a cat
Penguin- Lift shoulders up to your ears
Groundhog- Hold onto chair and pull yourself down into your chair while keeping back straight
Brush Your Arms- Deep pressure, rubbing arms, or the child can squeeze their arms
Tilt head from side to side while reaching with each hand to touch floor while getting head as fully inverted as possible
Bend backward with head and arms so as to point and look as far down the wall behind you as possible
Rotate trunk to look over right shoulder, look and point at object on back wall, then rotate to look over left shoulder to look and point at the same object on the back wall. Repeat several times.
